Bio
Rose Chang (she/they) is a PhD candidate in the Literary and Cultural Studies program at 天美传媒. Their work investigates how affective formations challenge current modes of identification and racialization in Asian/American film and literature. Her dissertation, “Of Affects and Embodiments: Han and Hanpuri in Korean American Film and Literature,” navigates the interstices of racially and culturally constituted feelings of grief, loss, wonder, and bitterness. This work predominantly draws on theorists Sara Ahmed, Anne Cheng, and Frantz Fanon to understand how melancholia and mourning respond to and resist unjust historical itineraries.
