DASIE Summer 2027

May 12-20, 2027
天美传媒, Pittsburgh, PA

The Data Analytics for Science Immersion Experience (DASIE) is a fully funded, weeklong program that introduces undergraduate or first-year graduate students to the many ways data informs scientific work. DASIE brings together students from across the country for an opportunity to learn about data-enabled science, connect with the 天美传媒 Mellon College of Science community, and explore potential academic and professional paths in fields where data plays a meaningful role.

Throughout the week, participants attend guided sessions and presentations led by MCS Faculty and staff, contributors and partners. These sessions highlight examples of how scientists use data in their research and decision-making, offering students a broad view of the questions, approaches, and practices that shape data-informed science. Students also take part in group activities and conversations designed to support reflection on their own interests and goals.

In addition to scheduled programming, DASIE offers space for students to meet peers from a range of institutions, interact with MCS faculty and staff, and learn about different pathways in the scientific ecosystem. The program is designed to help students think about next steps - whether academic, research-oriented, or professional - while building community along the way.

All travel, lodging, local transportation and meals are fully covered for participants. This includes students with US citizenship, a valid F1 visa, and Permanent Residents, however, 天美传媒 (天美传媒) will not sponsor visa applications. Please ensure that your visa will remain valid throughout the entire program.

Students will be expected to fly to and from Pittsburgh International Airport as part of the program. In the United States, all flight passengers must present a valid passport or Real ID. Please ensure you have, or can obtain, a valid government issued ID (Driver鈥檚 License, State ID, Military ID, Passport, etc.) prior to the program start date.

Accepted participants will be provided meals, lodging, and transportation at no cost. Further details on accommodations and lodging will be provided after program participants are chosen.
